About Ally Banks
I like to think of my design as curating a home of beautiful things for my clients.
My design is set apart from other designers in the Washington DC area because I take the time to seek out and hand pick one of a kind pieces from all over the world that are beautiful, great quality and timeless. I search and visit my favorite antique stores around the country, flea markets and websites to find these special treasures which become the heart of the home and the heart of my design. My hope is that these pieces become a part of my client’s lifelong collection that they will never tire of, love forever and cherish for a lifetime. My design has been described by many as an “eclectic mix of styles.” I take this description as the highest compliment because I think a mixture of styles creates the most interesting and unexpected interior while being only unique to that particular project and client.
While I am very focused on having one of a kind pieces in my projects, I mix these pieces with beautiful fabrics and furniture pieces from various design showrooms, furniture shows, favorite websites and big home retailers. My interiors tend to be a mix of price points and I will encourage my clients to splurge in certain places and pull back in others.
On a more personal note, I am the mother of four young children so I understand the need for both a practical and beautiful interior. I incorporate my knowledge of the reality of living with a family into every design decision.
